Purdue's I-O psychology program is among the oldest in the world. It has graduated more PhDs and produced more SIOP Fellows than any other I-O program, and it remains among the top-ranked programs in the nation.
The program
A science-practice model
Graduate training in our program is based on a science-practice model, where students are trained both as researchers as well as applied scientists equipped to work with organizations on human resource issues.
The current faculty have a wide range of research interests, many of which center around the psychological experiences of people at work. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in faculty research as they transition to their own individual research projects.
Please note that this program is part of Purdue University's Department of Psychological Sciences (West Lafayette) and is not affiliated with the Purdue Global I-O Psychology program. We offer a Ph.D. program in I-O Psychology and do not offer a terminal master's degree.
Admissions & funding
Every admitted student is funded, with a five-year guarantee, a nine-month stipend, and a tuition waiver.

Consistently ranked among the best
Purdue's standing in I-O psychology is reflected across independent rankings and reports. In February 2024 Purdue Today reported the program ranked tied for No. 7 by U.S. News & World Report in what was then its most recent survey. The program also appears in the Gourman report and the TIP report.
